PIEL "HEARTFELT" MELODIES

Songs from my heart, crafted with care, soul, and love

I recently sat down with Larry Conners on NewsTalkSTL to talk about my journey, my music, and the unexpected path that brought me back to songwriting.

Now, I write songs the only way I know how — from real life. Every melody and lyric comes from the roads I’ve walked, the battles I’ve fought, and  exeriences of life I've lived and those shared with me by the people I have known.

Music has been with me for over 50 years. After losing most of my hearing, I lost music in my life as well. a devatating blow to me.

Recently I found a way, with the help of Steve Harvey, to rebuilt my craft using modern tools as instruments, not shortcuts.

This allows me to re-energize my love of songwriting and music and continue my love of ballad story telling, through song writing . It is a true blessing for me, for which  I am eternally grateful.

THESE GUYS HAVE ME THINK'IN ABOUT PUTTING THE BAND BACK TOGETHER!

On July 29th, 2019, I performed my last live stage show before retiring as a performer. This was a "Wounded Warrior" fund raiser so I did this show Pro Bono with all the raised admission money going to help Veterans.

Knowing this was my last performance, my lovely bride "KT" who has spent many years as a stage manager and costume assistant during the live shows of our band "Big Boomer & The Wanderers" did something I had always wanted. She joined me onstage to sing the last song of my career,"God Bless America".

"KT" was never a stage performer and much preferred her role behind the scenes. She joined me to sing my last song as an act of love, and I appreciated it more than she will ever know. Since I was well into losing by hearing by then, it made the prep for this show extremely difficult. Her act of love and kindness made that effort totally worth it.

My son "Ben" also joined me for that performance. He drove 525 miles just to help me with this. He is an experienced performer who has traveled the world, preforming with the "U.S. Army Soldier Show" His contribution to this show was monumental to me and I truly appreciate him coming to help me.
